More whining about DirecWay and Ground Control

I purchase my DirecWay connection through a VAR. In the past week things have been pretty terrible. To start with they have a web accelerator, which as far as I can determine is not documented or explained anywhere. They claim it has nothing to do with the failure of XML-RPC to work properly. Here are a few facts I've asked them to explain away:

  1. When the modem is rebooted, and before Web Acceleration is working the XML-RPC calls work just fine
  2. When I take the same computer and software to a different connection, including dialup, the XML-RPC calls work just fine
  3. When my DirecWay modem browsed the internet through it's own IP instead of being forced to use the web accelerator cache it worked properly

After explaining the DirecWay problem last time I tried to call support I'm unlikely to do so again. Have you noticed that Google's Ads are gone? Not because I wanted to take them away, but because they prevent the page from loading over my DirecWay connection. That's not 100% true. It will eventually load after waiting forever for the request to time out. The same happens with style sheets. So here's the deal with this problem:

  1. When the modem is rebooted, and before Web Acceleration is working the pages and .css sheets load quickly
  2. When I take the same computer and software to a different connection, including dialup, pages load just fine
  3. When my DirecWay modem browsed the internet through it's own IP instead of being forced to use the web accelerator cache it worked properly

Since I can see the server side of these transactions as well I know that when I load some pages with .css sheets or .js files the DirecWay web cache never requests them. The server shows the load of the page and some graphics but never the .css or .js files.

Instead of whining here I should call support. Last time I did that the response was to re-point the dish, an adventure in itself, that of course yielded no results other than plenty of blue air about the geniuses at DirecWay and Ground Control. Has anybody else noticed these problems?
