Mailing List Solutions

What are the best mailing list solutions people are using today? We are in need of a better list management solution. In my mind the basic requirements include:

  • Web based administration including Add/Delete/Suspend
  • Web based archive
  • Ability to use the web to change from regular to digest delivery
  • Automatic processing of bounces

What are the best solutions to date for hosting this in-house?

The race is on

Apparently unswayed by the overwhelming majority of the rank-and-file members of the Democratic party that did not offer their support the Mike Miles campaign will go on. Here is the email that was sent out earlier today.

Subject: Standing Tall - Part 2

Dear friend,

You showed courage voting for me last Tuesday. Thank you. In many cases my supporters were in the minority at their precinct caucus, so it took even more courage to stand up for democracy and to make a difference in the direction of our Party and country.

Has a decision been made?

U.S. Senate candidate Mike Miles told the Cortez Journal last week that he would decide by this past Sunday whether to continue his campaign. '"I need some input from people around the state, and we're going to decide what action to take," Miles said via phone Friday,' Miles told the paper. he says he is willing to listen to rank-and-file Democrats. Mike the caucuses were last week. The rank-and-file have spoken and said, quite clearly, that Mr. Salazar is our standard bearer.

A thought

Dave Winer says today "It's a sick thing to define yourself in terms of the misery you think you're creating." It makes me think about people I know who define themselves by trying to ensure everyone around them conforms to their world views and end up alienating people because they don't even understand how condescending and "I'll prove I'm better than you are," they come across to others. I usually think to myself "how sad your world must be."

Google's Cinderella Story

NPR has a good article this morning on search engines. The story is the second in a series about search engines and the business of searching on the net. Today's installment is Search Engine Wars.

Miles campaign talking points

The Mike Miles for Senate campaign again is sending talking points that don't really say anything. A couple of days ago my post drew a response that reads verbatim like the Miles campaign. Let me make it clear I do not support any particular candidate. What saddens me is to see so much traditional political muckraking when there is a chance to reinvent the political process in a new way. In a quote often attributed to Einstein, that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing an expecting different results. Indeed Miles is doing much the same thing as so many candidates who are new to politics have tried - many unsuccessfully.

What are your references

Fast Company has a good article by Seth Godin saying "You are your references". As I recently went through the process of being hired the thing that surprised me is that only one person from my new employer did a search and found my site. Seth Godin's article is correct in that pretty much every time I do business I check what others have to say about a person or company on the web.

Test Task

This is a test task. How well does it work? We will find out. If this works then TasksPro from Alex King now posts to Drupal.Test of Bold

Yup it worked!

To post to a Drupal Blog you have to give it the URL of your add page. For many this will be similar to http://www.example.com/node/add/blog/ and you'll be good to go.
