The West Wing

Dave Winer asks today "Does Rumsfeld read Scripting News?" The query runs parallel to a thought I had last night after watching The West Wing. I was hoping that there are people inside the oval office watching. The writers for the show seem to have a much better grasp of what is happening in Gaza than do the current occupants of the White House. The show did a fantastic job of presenting the complexity the situation and touching on the plight of the individuals caught up in the situation.

The Sierra Tarn Gallery has photos from the 2004 Firepower Demonstration on the Nellis AFB range today. A spectacular show including a complete combat search and rescue (CSAR) demonstration. Thanks to the Air Force for allowing us to attend.

Westlaw does RSS

Dave Winer points to a note from LawLibTech that Westlaw now supports RSS. I tried it and it works well. The StorageTek feed in the news feeds section is a WestLaw feed.

The good news doesn't stop there though, WestLaw has setup the system so that it readily accommodates feeds for places such as intranets where things can be linked using the firms subscription instead of each user having to log in each time. Very cool. Now I need to get better at using WestLaw.

StorageTek's 10-Q

StorageTek says in their 10-Q filing on the 5th that their "future success depends in large part on our ability to attract and retain our key employees." It's almost comical the way in which they continue to focus on "key employees" (i.e. executives) who have proven time and time again that they are incapable of executing to get results while they continue to thin the already thin ranks of the people who actually do the work each and every day. For example recently they brought on two new executives with a salary in excess of three-quarters of a million dollars annually.

A cool example

The folks over at concord.org have a cool example of using Apple's WebKit API and Cocoa Component technology to create a simple Java web browser. It does a good job of demonstrating how simple it could be to implement a browser interface that understands many standards out of the box.
