Is Freedberg out?

According to a couple of reports on KUNC Brad Freedberg has quit the race for the democratic nomination for the US Senate seate vacated by Senator Campbell. There are no events, but also no mention of the withdrawal on Freedberg's website. I don't see a mention of it on Coyote Gulch either. Coyote Gulch does note that neither Shaffer nor Salazar have a blog going yet. It would be great to see them embrace the new media.

A Ban on Camera Phones?

There was a story on the news last night about this effort to ban cellular camera phones that is being introduced in the Colorado Legislature. There is however one problem (ok really more than one). But the big one can be found in the Bill of Rights under the section labeled "Amendment 1".

Pommer's bill would make the use of cell phone cameras in areas like locker rooms a misdemeanor. As the bill hasn't been introduced yet I haven't read it yet. However, cellular camera phones are but one of the many small devices that would make it possible to take pictures in a locker room. What if the locker room has no lockers? Shall it be a crime to use your own phone to take a picture of yourself in a new outfit in a changing room at the local department store? There are plenty of PDA's and small cameras that are also capable of taking the picture if not transmitting it instantly.

Blogs and other media

Dave Kopel has a worthy editorial in today's Rocky Mountain News. Coyote Gulch discusses it a bit further. Dave Winer's Scripting News has a consistent theme about the presidential candidates' "embracing" new media but not really understanding it or figuring out new and innovative ways to use the internet. The failure of Colorado's challengers for Campbell's senate seat to find this innovation will be a deciding factor in Campbell's reelection.

Bah Humbug!

I made the pilgrimage to see about finishing up the Christmas shopping today. In addition there were a couple of little things like the knob for the gas control on the fire place I needed to replace. People are just plain crazy. I've decided that this will be an online and mail order shopping season. I am planning on getting a few things that I thought would be better to pickup in person but they too will be delivered.

What is it about Christmas shopping that makes people drive like they own the road? I can't count the number of times today I saw someone get out of a line traffic, into the right turn only lane, and then at the last minute stop and block traffic until they were allowed to cut back into the front of the line they came from.

Giving up I decided to pick up some Del Taco on the way home.

Home again

After ten days on the road we made it home again tonight. I'll work on posting pictures over the next few days. There are some nice pictures of Zion, Bryce, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We stayed an extra day at Sun Flower Hill B&B in Moab as it was a pretty nice place.

It's different this time. I'm not excited, or even that happy to be home. It's great to have the large screen TV and to sit at my own desk, to sleep in my own bed. It's not that. I'm just wanting to move to another phase in life. The southwest is beckoning.

First Snow in Denver

Raible designs has some photos of the first snow this year in Denver. I had planned a trip to work on some clients computers today but after a couple of futile hours on I-25 it had to be put off until tomorrow. One more day to recover from the cold/flu bug that has been going around. First Snow in Denver - It's really coming down right now - I wouldn't be surprised if we had 6 inches by nightfall.
