The picture at the right, showing some 520 unread email messages comes courtesy of the combination of the import_node module, Organic Groups and a successful import.

Note to self and others: when you're importing a whole bunch of Organic Groups you might want to turn off email notifications before proceeding with the import.

Reroute Email module

This is exactly the kind of thing that the Reroute Email module is designed to prevent. I can't recommend it more. http://drupal.org/project/reroute_email

Or just use devel module (which most of us are using anyway). There's an option to intercept all outgoing email and send it to watchdog instead of sending mail.
